The tubular steel Jubilee Gardens Pier London. Spoil from London Underground being taken away by 1000 tonne barges.
The pontoon was moored by radial arms to sunken, stone filled barges as piling was not allowed due to London Underground tunnel proximity.
The pontoon was moored for 3 years. The London Eye is now in this position on the River Thames.
The pontoon rolled under water when hit by heavy barges and, in doing so absorbed berthing energy. Design by Beckett Rankine.
